AFSC OPINION Exclusive – The Reason Aaron Ramsey snubbed United

Aaron Ramsey signed for Arsenal because he knew Manchester United were not the team for him, he was taken to Manchester and to the Carrington training ground to meet……… Gary Neville, enough said.

Put yourself in Aaron Ramseys shoes and what type of impression does that make? As well as being given nightmares for the rest of his life it shows that Manchester United were not really interested in him as a person at all and they want him only because he is a high profile transfer and they feel they should add him to the United brand.

Manchester United's website had already had the deal signed sealed and delivered as they announced it to everybody on ManU.com  that they had signed the player, i am sure just those factors alone were enought to put young Aaron off anyway, and probably told his and his famuily he needed to know all about his prospective employer and how he was going to be treated.

I understand why he turned United down and it is something that has happened time and time again, the classic case was Charlie Nicholas, when he went to Manchester United and Liverpool before he came to see Arsenal he said the reason why he signed for us was because all Manchester United could do was talk about themselves and how great they were, he said at the time he spoke to Arsenal and they spoke about him, the person and the potential player how he would fit in and how we would develop him into a better player and that is what made Charlie sign for Arsenal. Nothing changed their then Manchester United still cant stop talking about themselves and they think the whole world revolves around them.

Now I know you will say that I am bound to say this but the reason Aaron Ramsey did not choose Manchester United is exactly the reason why his is perfect for Arsenal, Arsene Wenger has said time and time again he looks for certain qualities in his players, a self belief and determination,  intelligence  and a well balanced person , not full of himself , not disruptive and certainly not thinking they are better than a team.

Apply the same criteria to some of the Manchester United players and that is why they would never be in an Arsenal shirt, take the likes of Rooney, Nani, Anderson for example, the apex of up-my-own-arse disorder in the first degree.

So welcome Aaron Ramsey to The Arsenal, you have already demonstrated you have the qualities and the calibre to be an Arsenal player, you can now pull on the Arsenal shirt, so now go and prove to all of us Gooners that you wear the shirt with pride and that you have the special qualities to wear it and in return we will prove to you that actually we are the best Football Club in the world and why we are called The Arsenal.
