Cesc Fabregas remained coy regarding his club future following Spain's win over the Netherlands in Sunday evening's World Cup final.

The Arsenal skipper has been the focal point of a long-running saga as Barcelona continue to try to prise the midfielder away from the Emirates.

He offered no update on his situation in the wake of the final though, preferring instead to highlight just how proud he was of winning the World Cup as a Gunner.

"All I can say is that this World Cup victory is for all the Arsenal players and fans, they are a world-class club," Fabregas told Sky Sports in Johannesburg.

"I am an Arsenal player and proud to be."

Fabregas came off the substitutes' bench in Sunday's final and laid on the assist for Andres Iniesta's winning goal deep into extra-time.

After the game, though, his immediate thoughts were with Arsenal team-mate Robin van Persie, who was on the wrong side of the result.

"The first thing I had to do after the final whistle was go to Robin. Instead of celebrating with my friends, I wanted to talk to him," said Fabregas.

"He has been injured a lot and if it wasn't us he was playing against, it would have been different. I just hope he has his chance again, because he is a great guy and a great leader."
